Thank you for visiting. I am Yuta Naito, founder and CEO of Episotech.

The name Episotech joins episodic memory — the kind of memory that experience carves in deeply — with technique. It carries an intention: to use technology that is understood at a glance, so that the experiences we create stay with people, and so that a wider range of people can do the work.

Our vision is to build a foundation where diverse people can thrive. Our mission is to help people understand things intuitively. That vision came out of what I felt in my previous job: that people spend more than half their lives suppressing what makes them individual, for the sake of a company. Innovation is known to come from diversity. If people with their own character have room to use it, something new might happen. A culture that does not allow for individuality crushes both the person and the company's future. That contradiction is what I wanted to change.

We started with xR

In my previous job I led development of a VR solution for passing on technical skills. I experienced first-hand how something difficult can reach the brain in an instant and stay there. But taking that to the shop floor runs into a wall: the cost of producing the content. Episotech was founded to lower that wall, using an AR approach that does not require 3D modelling of the environment.

While working out how to make intuitive understanding something anyone could handle, I arrived at one thing. Knowledge and skill on the floor live in a person's hands and body. Until now, only the knowledge of people who could rewrite themselves — put it into words, fit it to a prescribed format, explain it well — has survived.

Someone who does not write easily, or who holds a knack that resists words, is not worth less for it. That is why we turned to video. Record the job the way it is normally done. That alone turns a person's way of working into knowledge. And with AI that understands video, no commentary or narration is needed — recording the work is enough for the AI to read it as a set of steps. You do not have to explain it well. You do not have to find the words. You can see it. That is the same power of intuitive understanding we first met in VR, in a form anyone can hold without special equipment.

People should not have to remake themselves

And if we decided from above what is worth keeping, we would only be forcing people into another mould.

So the starting point sits on the floor as well. Each person says, in their own words, "I don't understand this" or "I want this". An SOP is born from that voice, gets used, and grows into something the organisation owns. The reality that falls outside the standard, and the knowledge that has not yet become words — that is exactly what we want to pick up.

In the end, what we want comes down to one thing: people should not have to remake themselves.

You do not have to write well. You do not have to speak well. Say what you noticed, as you noticed it. Each person, as they are, becomes the value. That is the foundation we keep building.
